Listen to: Ludacris ft. Young Jeezy - “Grew Up A Screw Up”
The new Ludacris joint “Grew Up A Screw Up” with Young Jeezy is disgusting. The beat sounds like “Hustlin Part 3″, but I’m not complaining, it bangs. Young Jeezy’s apperance wasn’t memorable (”I got a Field Mob that’ll disturb your peace”), but Ludacris goes hard especially on the last verse. I’ve always enjoyed Luda as a MC, but I’ve been disappointed more than once at his beat selection. I haven’t been able to listen through an entire Luda LP because of that. It’s a given that there are going to be a couple of dope tracks on a Luda jointm but there have been so many lackluster ones. I’ve heard four songs, including this one, from “Release Therapy” and I’ve already found a skippable song, “Money Maker” with Pharrell. It could be because I’m steadily becoming annoyed by anything Pharrell touches, but I’m leaning towards the joint just being hot garbage.
The following video is absolutely amazing..
You’re watching: Lego Clan Part 1 of 3
Probably one of the best movies made with Legos, period. If you enjoy Legos, music, Quentin Tarantino, and violence, you’ll enjoy “Lego Clan”. Go to youtube.com and watch all three parts.

How did this happen? This was supposed to be the year that everything came together and worked. Coach Krayshdjakshdjhakjsskeiwiiski and the powers that be were supposed to put together a gold medal winner. I know what happened! The same thing that happened in the Olympics. We didn’t bring a GOOD perimeter shooter (Oh, we brought Joe Johnson. That’s good! Oh, he didn’t play? What??) and we let a glorified college coach with a history of future NBA rejects coach the squad. I don’t care what so and so player did in the NBA this past season, neither Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, nor Dwayne Wade can be considered lights out shooters. We couldn’t bring a certified perimeter shooter? Are you kidding me? We decided to try out players like Shane Battier and Luke Ridnour. Are you serious? Players that are lucky to be starting and/or on a roster in the L are being considered to represent the US in the World Championships. Somebody remind me where the US team prepared for the World Championships? A city that’s open 24/7? A city full of distractions? Yeah, I think that would fit the description. I still don’t understand how anybody can expect to win when you’ve been training together for two months and the rest of the world has been training squads for years. It’s more than evident that the US cannot get by through pure athleticism alone, but then again I thought we learned all of this in the last Olympics. Cohesion. Defense i.e. knowledge of how to switch and halt the pick and roll. These things were as foreign to the US as the languages spoken by the opposing teams. By the way, remind me to never go to Spain..

So these guys are going to be producing half of Kanye’s next LP “Graduation”…
According to Sa-Ra, Graduation will be half hip-hop and half electro jazz. The album will be half produced by Sa-Ra (the electro jazz half) and will feature guest spots from Pharrell, Jay-Z, Nas and the G.O.O.D Music crew. Andre 3000 is also rumoured to be a guest artist on the album.
Taz (one third of Sa-Ra) “Kanye has taken this direction because he wants to keep that element of surprise going with his fans. So that they never know what to expect from him.” He also added, “We are really excited to be given this opportunity by Kanye, to produce for one of the world’s best MC’s, but to be given half the album is amazing! It will give us a chance to show the world what we can do.”
One of the world’s best MC’s? I know Ye’s your employer, but settle down for a second. Anyways, I’m excited about Sa-Ra taking up half of “Graduation”. Everything I’ve heard from Sa-Ra has been addicting, to say the least. There’s something about their music that captures the essentials of the hip-hop production, but there’s just enough to push the envelope without pushing it too far. I’ve never been a fan of their rapping/singing, but those Sa-Ra fellas can make heat.
Speaking of artists whose rapping/singing I am no supporter of, I have to give props to will.i.am. The Black Eyed Peas front man has been the thorn in mainstream hip-hop’s sides catapaulting a group of lower level MC’s and a bland singer to multiplatinum success. “My Humps” took over airwaves and clubs for a good section of the past year and most hip-hop heads cringe at their mention, but will.i.am is talented. While the black Filipino dude with the mohawk, the girl that pisses on herself, and the miscellaneous light skinned guy do their bit parts, will.i.am is the true talent. So the joint he did for Busta Rhymes was doo doo, his work for J Timberlake’s next LP “FutureSex/LoveSounds” is top notch. While it’s near impossible to match Timbaland’s recent pop production output, will.i.am gifts Timberlake with a track, “Damn Girl”, that goes head to head with Timbaland’s synth heavy additions. Unfortunately for will.i.am, the next track on my playlist is “Chop Me Up” featuring the Three 6 Mafia, cashing in on their new found popularity, and Timbaland, doing his sing song rap thing. “Chop Me Up” is by far one of the best tracks of the year in all genres of music, serious. When you listen to the track and hear the beat change for Three 6 Mafia, you’ll know what I’m talking about. Head over to Still Listen to Gangsta Music to pick up tracks off “FutureSex/LoveSounds”.
You’re watching: The Roots - Video Triology
If the video doesn’t appear, click here to watch on youtube. The Roots trilogy video featuring “In the Music” “Here I Come” and “Don’t Feel Right”. The concept is great and the videos themselves are nice and all, but I was hoping that Dice Raw and Malik B could have made their respective appearances. All praises to Black Thought, but he is seriously lacking in the charisma department.

Take a good look at Lupe Fiasco’s cover for “Food & Liquor”. Now laugh. I don’t know what to say about Lupe’s last two music videos, “Daydream” and “I Gotcha”. They aren’t all that great. “I Gotcha” is just an advertisement for streetwear. I gotta admit though I laughed when Lupe said his temperature was tempura and he made the dish appear. The video was just all over the place with both its colors and content. “Daydream” was cool for how they did Jill Scott on the records, but the robot was weak, honestly. “Failure” was the best video Lupe has ever done. It was simple. It was too the point. It was gully.
I’ve been on hiatus for the last week or so because I’ve been busy moving back to school. It’s my last year until I’m going to be forced to wander the streets in search of modest employment and/or drugs. Anyways, we are gonna be back in the next couple days with updates so keep coming back.
You’re watching: The Clipse - Soldiers Ride
Big J is bland, but Pusha kills the first verse. “Name one that you think is sicker and I promise you I’ll hand you a victim, Pusha.” Malice proceeds to end the track with a piledriver from the top rope effectively making this a Clipse joint. “I’m too real with it, from coppin’ weight/ to in and out of time zones, hop scotchin’ states.”
Listen to: Hieroglyphics - “Don’t Hate The Player” & Ghostface & A.G. - “2K007″
Greek mythology suggests that humans are creatures cut in half who
spend their lives wandering around trying to find the other half. If
this is true, producer Dan The Automator is a lucky man, for each
collaboration in his multifaceted career has spawned success.
From his breakthrough album “Dr. Octagon” to the international smash
success of The Gorillaz, Dan The Automator has always worked in
collaboration with other MC’s, producers or singers: Damon Albarn
(Blur), Mike Pattonn (Faith no More), Cornershop, Primal Scream, Eels,
Prince Paul (De La Soul), Del The Funky Homosapien (Hieroglyphics),
Mike Simpson (Dust Brothers), the list of the artists blessed to work
with Dan The Automator reads like a compendium of the best music has to
offer.
Yet with his new project, Dan raises the bar even higher. “2K7″, his new
album features some of the hottest rappers of today: Lupe Fiasco, Mos
Def, Ghostface, E-40, Slim Thug, Fabolous and many more lend their
skills to one of the most esteemed producers of his time. The result is
a vibrant collection of classic hip-hop burners.
Says Dan The Automator, “From the start, I was interested of exploring
the various facets of today’s Hip Hop. It was a matter of making their
style match mine, without forcing the rappers into what they don’t
sound like and at the same time keeping the record a continuous work. I
think we did a great job. Someone from the Bay Area like E-40* comes off
equally as interesting as someone from the East Coast like Ghostface or
someone from the South like Slim Thug”.
*We at jesus piece do not endorse listening to E-40.
Track Listing:
1. Dan The Automator - Intro
2. Slim Thug - I Love This Game
3. Rhymefest - Bang The Ball
4. Hieroglyphics - Don’t Hate The Player
5. Fabolous - Ball Til You Fall

7. E-40 & San Quinn - Baller Blockin’
8. Ghostface & A.G. of D.I.T.C. - 2K007
9. Lupe Fiasco & Evidence of Dilated Peoples - Catch Me
10. Mos Def & Anwar Superstar - Here Comes The Champ
11. Charli 2na of Jurassic 5 - Anchor Man
12. A Tribe Called Quest - Lyrics To Go (remix)
13. Zion I - Fade Away
You’re watching: Re-Up Gang ft. Skillz @ Power 92
Skillz, DAMN. That is all.
THIS IS NOT THE JOINT FROM “THE NEW DANGER”, but a joint that might be on Mos Def’s next LP “True Magic” set to drop next month. From the jump, “Boogie Man” has a better (and more up tempo) beat than most of the joints on “The New Danger”. The scatty piano leads you into.. some fucking dope horns! The horns, coupled with hard hitting drums, come in loud and thunderous as Mos Def starts.. spitting! I know most of ya’ll were disappointed by “The New Danger” because Mos Def barely spit bars and the style of production deviated immensely from “BOBS”, but “Boogie Man” sets the table for “True Magic”. There ain’t nothing wrong with singing and unlike Pharrell, Mos Def can actually sing, but that’s not the point. I want to hear Mos Def spit no matter how unlike “BOBS” it’s going to be. I wouldn’t expect the Mos Def of old, but he displays his trademark delivery/flow and wittiness on “Boogie Man” with the second verse, “Black Dante superior entree/ Number 1 special we gonna eat good all day”.
It’s funny to talk about Mos Def because he’s in a similar situation to Andre3000 these days. Both want to be actors and CAN actually act. Both want to branch out artistically be it singing or black rock and roll. Both are leaving behind an acclaimed/successful group (Andre more so than Mos seeing that Black Star has been inactive for near a decade). Both don’t conform to the typical image of hip-hop. Both have fans wanting them to go back to their glory days. Sometimes it seems these two modeled their careers after one another in those respects. With “Idlewild” coming out August 25th and the tracklisting looking more like a rehash of “Speakerboxxx/TLB” in terms of it being a joint Andre and Big Boi project than an Outkast record. “The New Danger” was shitted on because Mos Def made use of his band, Black Jack Johnson, one too many times. Personally, I don’t see “The New Danger” as a true Mos Def solo LP as much as I see it as Mos allowing Black Jack Johnson to materialize into meaningful studio music. BJJ was destined to never drop a LP of its own and being featured on “The New Danger” was the next best thing. Anyways, I’m anticipating “True Magic” just like I anticipated “The New Danger” but I can’t front.. I’m hoping to hear less Black Jack Johnson and more Mos Def the MC.
